Uneven Spraying? Check the Air Pressure First!
Experiencing the frustrating issue of "inconsistent flow"-sometimes too much, sometimes too little-when using your adhesive applicator? Don't be too quick to blame the machine! In 90% of cases, the air pressure simply hasn't been set correctly. If the air pressure is too high, the adhesive will be ejected too forcefully, resulting in a "splatter" effect; conversely, if the pressure is too low, the adhesive will flow intermittently-much like "squeezing toothpaste."
Solution:
Locate the air pressure adjustment valve on the machine (typically situated near the air inlet).
Turn the valve clockwise to increase the air pressure, and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Observe the spraying pattern while making adjustments; the ideal state is for the adhesive to be ejected as a continuous, fine line.
Record the optimal air pressure setting for your specific adhesive and materials (we recommend attaching a label directly to the machine for easy reference).
Clogged Nozzle? A 3-Step Cleaning Method
A clogged nozzle is a "common ailment" for adhesive applicators-particularly when using high-viscosity adhesives. A blocked nozzle causes the spray to devolve into a mere "drip" mode, severely hampering operational efficiency.
Cleaning Steps:
Power Down: First, switch off the machine's power supply and unplug the unit.
Remove the Nozzle: Use the appropriate tool to unscrew the nozzle by turning it counter-clockwise (be sure to keep track of any small parts).
Soak and Clean: Place the nozzle in a container filled with a suitable solvent/thinner and let it soak for 10–15 minutes (anhydrous alcohol can be used as an alternative).
Scrub and Unclog: Use a fine-bristled brush (such as an old toothbrush) to gently scrub and clean the interior of the nozzle.
Reinstall and Test: After reattaching the nozzle, perform a "dry run" (spraying without adhesive) to verify that the flow path is clear.
Pro Tip: At the end of each workday, perform a brief "flush" by spraying solvent/thinner for 3–5 seconds; this is an effective way to prevent future clogging.
Choose the Right Adhesive for Maximum Efficiency
Many people overlook the significant impact that the choice of adhesive has on the overall spraying performance. Different materials require adhesives with specific characteristics; selecting the wrong one may lead to:
Frequent nozzle clogging (if the adhesive is too viscous)
Adhesive splatter (if the adhesive is too fluid)
Insufficient bonding strength (if the adhesive type is incompatible)
Principles for Adhesive Selection:
Material Compatibility: Use plastic adhesives for plastics, metal adhesives for metals, and wood adhesives for wood.
Viscosity Considerations: For spray applications, it is recommended to select adhesives with a viscosity range of 500–2000 cps.
Drying Time: Select a fast-drying type (1–5 minutes) or a slow-drying type (over 30 minutes), depending on your production workflow.
Environmental Friendliness: Prioritize water-based or low-odor adhesives (especially when working indoors).
Advanced Tip: During winter when temperatures are low, placing the adhesive container in 40°C warm water for 10 minutes to preheat it can significantly improve its flow properties.
